Personalized Promotional Mutual Fund Statement

Definition:

Increased document value through personalization and customization. The VIPP application was developed in the Lytrod Software’s Proform Designer, the leading GUI in Xerox’s VIPP Made Easy workflow. Proform Designer was used to easily and rapidly add color, data-driven graphics and customized advertising messages to existing statements.

Business Problem:

There was a need to improve customer relationship marketing. High-value customers needed personalized attention and communication about additional products and services that met their specific needs. Objective was to add value to the existing mutual fund statement by making it easier to read and more useful for decision-making.

Business Process:

Move from legacy LCDS format to VIPP (same workflow and production flexibility while adding the richness of PostScript and PDF). Initial transition, including data-driven graphics, was made through programming. Then, desktop publishing personnel used the PC-based Proform Designer to add conditional logic¾promotions of product and service offerings, along with their graphics and messages¾to the statement application. Every week night, the same VIPP application, running on Xerox’s new Thin Printer, mass-produces statements as PDF documents using the latest investment data. These electronic documents are available to clients daily at a PIN-accessed Web site. With the same look and feel as the monthly statements, data-driven VIPP electronic documents are used to enhance the value of their paper counterparts.

Xerox Value Proposition to Customer vs. Competition:

Dynamic document construction (DDC), Xerox’s unique “just sends the data” workflow, offers unsurpassed production flexibility and control. By keeping data and formatting separate until the moment of production, documents run at the printer’s rated speed and can be sent on to in-line or off-line mail inserting and finishing equipment. The LCDS implementation of DDC is migrated and modernized to VIPP, enabling the richness of PostScript and PDF with the same powerful workflow. Transaction applications are readily enhanced to become one-to-one documents that maintain loyalty through effective customer relationship marketing.
