Final Grade Reporting: K-12 or Higher Education (Public Sector)
Solution: Data input sheet for teacher or professor use
Definition:
A class of student names and ID numbers is sorted by last name. The VIPP application was developed in the PC-based Lytrod Designer, the leading GUI in Xerox’s VIPP Made Easy workflow. The Lytrod Designer was used to integrate the class and student information on the scannable bubble-form. Expensive, pre-printed forms are no longer needed as the survey format is printed along with the variable data on a highlight color printer. (VIPP and the Lytrod Designers now support “pre-slugging” of OMR bubbles. Variable data can be used to automatically fill in appropriate bubbles, for the convenience of respondents and security of the response form.)
Business Problem:
Grade reporting is a common process in education, generally performed once per quarter or semester. Instructors fill in the student’s name, ID number and grade on a costly pre-printed, standardized form, which is then scanned to a grade reporting system on the mainframe. Customization cannot be done, and the school does not have the flexibility to make any changes that might personalize the reports.
Business Process:
Grade reporting sheets are created just in time for the teacher’s use. The easy-to-use format can be customized to the district’s or college’s comment formats. Comments specific to each grading period can be created as well.
Xerox Value Proposition to Customer vs. Competition:
Lytrod and VIPP combine to offer the most advanced and easy-to-use OMR forms production system. Higher quality, easier-to-read grade input sheets are printed as needed, at far lower cost. The grades can be scanned, uploaded to master reporting systems, and then transferred back and reformatted to create the actual student interim report—all in one workflow. Reports can be sorted by instructor or class to be given directly to students, or sorted by mailing address to be mailed home. Grades can also be added to final transcripts for graduating students. Transcripts and grade reports can be sent together—eliminating a second mailing. |
