Solution: Migrate and Modernize (Data Repurposing);
Increased document value through personalization
Definition:
The VIPP application is created in the PC-based Lytrod Designer, the leading GUI in Xerox’s VIPP Made Easy workflow. The Lytrod Proform Designer was used to easily and rapidly add full color, data-driven graphics, conditional images and text, and barcodes to improve customer relationship management. Result is better service, improved customer loyalty, and one-to-one marketing opportunities.
Business Problem:
Many retail establishments have simple billing forms that are populated by line-mode data from mainframe computers. These same legacy data streams, without modification, can be exploited to improve customer relationship marketing (CRM)¾immediately and with only modest investment. With the Lytrod Designers, users can drag-and-drop only the data they need to add the desired personalization to a new full-color document design. The resulting VIPP application will use the same line-mode data as input, but be driven according the new design, exploiting the rich graphical features of PostScript for personalized document production.
Business Process:
Tabular information in the original design is enhanced with more pleasing fonts and the use of highlight color to draw attention to the “bottom line.” Communication is further improved with a full-color, data-driven bar graph that makes trends visible. Conditional images and text, driven by each customer’s data record, make the communication personal and, with photos, introduce the customer to, or remind them of, their local service executive. All of these enhancements are realized in production without any changes to the data stream.
Xerox Value Proposition to Customer vs. Competition:
Dynamic document construction (DDC), Xerox’s unique “just send the data” workflow, has been made far easier to implement with a range of VIPP Made Easy tools¾in this case Lytrod’s Proform Designer. VIPP offers unsurpassed production flexibility and control. By keeping data and format separate until the moment of production, documents are run at the printer’s rated speed, then sent to off-line finishing equipment. The one-piece mailer combines with the data-driven POSTNET barcode to save on postage and envelope costs. |
