Definition:
Line data captured from the mainframe is manipulated to create the tuition bill for each
student. The PC-based Proform Designer VIPP Tool was used to map and format the tuition and fees data and create the student’s fall schedule.
Business Problem:
Tuition bills are created each semester or quarter. Typically, the number of credits a student takes determines the total tuition and which additional fees are applicable. The bills are usually printed at the data center print operation on a line printer, using expensive pre-perfed stock. And only mainframe jockeys work with line data, right? Wrong!
Business Process:
A forms designer creates the tuition bill using DeskTop Designer, adding the logic for fees
and tuition totals with ease. By “cleansing” and pre-sorting address data, the print run is sent to mail inserting equipment in zip code order.saving the agency nine cents per piece or more.
